Heidi Howard
Heidi S. Howard is 7 Stages' Education Director and Production Stage Manager. Now in her 9th season with 7 Stages, some of her favorite directing projects include original Youth Creates shows: If the Art Fits 07, Who We Are …when you’re not looking 06, Lifecoaster 03, TAS original collaborations: The World Swirls and Brainstorm, and Jim Grimsley’s A Bird of Prey. Stage Managing highlights include Alice & Kafka Are Dead: Long Live the Rosenbergs, Maria Kizito, HUSH, Iphigenia... a rave-fable, The Chairs, Texts for Nothing, Faust, and In Berlin. Often continuing with a production on the road as Tour Manager and Production Stage Manager, she has toured productions throughout the United States as well as to Belgrade, Serbia with DAH Teatar and to China to participate in the Shanghai National Arts Festival. She has enjoyed collaborating with such artists as Joseph Chaikin, Walter Asmus, Dijana Milosevic, Eric Ehn, Murray Mednick, Jim Grimsley, Robert Earl Price, and Anna Tismer. As Education Director, she has developed and continues to direct 7 Stages' Summer Youth Theatre Training Program Youth Creates, which has just completed its fifth year of production. Further, she continues to expand educational opportunities through in school residencies and workshops, internships, and guest artist workshops. Graduating from Stetson University, she has also studied directing with the Lincoln Center Director’s Lab and at the DAH Laboratory International Training Program. She received the 2007 TCG Observership grant for travel to The Netherlands in an effort to continue international exchanges.
Ms. Howard is an Artistic Associate to Synchronicity Performance Group and a part of their Playmaking for Girls program. Her love of theatre and continuing urge to surround herself with artists has allowed her to design, tech, create, and of course stage manage with several other companies and artists such as the Debra Ehrhardt and the Jamaica Cultural Alliance, Synchronicity Performance Group, Theatrical Outfit, Out of Hand, Working Title Playwrights, and Angelworks SMA.
