A multi-sensorial live performance: part ritual, part celebration, part installation, and part shared cooking experience by critically acclaimed multidisciplinary artist duo Ximena Garnica and Shige Moriya. Produced by LEIMAY, A Meal explores our deep connection with food—where it comes from, what we eat, and who we share it with.

This immersive experience takes you through a series of vignettes where you’ll partake in the act of cooking and eating together, witness performances by mythological creatures, and encounter offering songs and evocative sound/video movement installations. The layered work features evocative images and dances, resonating with our post-industrial relationship with food and the Japanese and Colombian roots of the co-creators.

For A Meal, Ximena and Shige bring together new and long-time collaborators to their LEIMAY Ensemble, alongside guest performers, composers, and vocalists. These include Masanori Asahara, Krystal Copper, Akane Little, Synead Cidney Nichols and Drew Sensue-Weinstein. Join us for a memorable journey that celebrates food, culture, and community.

March 14 and 15, 2026 at 7 Stages, climb along with performer Tim Miller inside the giant “O” of the Hollywood sign – or as Shakespeare conjured it “the wooden O” of all theatre and performance–where we try to take on the big themes of our time. Miller performs a new work created from his newest book of performances and stories A BODY IN THE O.

Jumping off from a day in 1984 when Miller scrambled up inside of the O of the Hollywood sign and imagined the performance space tree house of his dreams (PS NY and Highways Performance Space), A BODY IN THE O  journeys through the hoops of the Department of Homeland Security, a queer boy’s truthtelling, and finally a wedding day in NYC in 2013 as Miller imagines the full possibility of performance that changes the world inside these wooden Os!

Tim Miller is an internationally acclaimed solo performer. Hailed for its humor and passion, Miller’s solo theater works have been presented all over North America, Australia, and Europe at such prestigious venues as Yale Repertory Theatre, the Institute of Contemporary Art (London), the Walker Art Center (Minneapolis), and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. He is the author of the books SHIRTS & SKIN, BODY BLOWS and 1001 BEDS, which won the 2007 literary prize for best Drama-Theater book from Lambda Literary Foundation. Miller has taught performance in the theater departments at UCLA and at Cal State L.A.. He is a founder of two of the most influential performance spaces in the United States: Performance Space 122 (now Performance Space New York) on Manhattan’s Lower East Side and Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica, CA. In the midst of darkness, we discover who we truly are. There is Another Way tells the story of a group of visionaries who refuse to surrender to violence and injustice, and in doing so show that another path is possible – for them, for us, and for all humanity.  As we are all faced with essential questions about who we are, will we choose collective liberation, where the needs, rights, and safety of all are prioritized – in which our humanity comes first, knowing that no one is free until everyone is free. 

Combatants for Peace, nominated for two Nobel Peace Prizes, is an extraordinary bi-national group of former enemy combatants – Israelis and Palestinians – working together during an ongoing armed conflict. Confronted with the devastation and escalating violence of October 7th and the war in Gaza, the very core of the movement faces great challenges in showing that there is another way. The first question they must answer relates to their own beliefs…is this possible?

A follow up to the award-winning documentary Disturbing the Peace (2016), which is about questioning the narrative we are born into, There is Another Way is about choosing our future. It takes courage to walk a path even when you yourself feel overwhelmed and afraid—a path where you don’t know the final answer, only that it will emerge from standing in the grief of what we, as humanity, have experienced and created and find yourself unable to turn away.

This event is a fundraiser for the organization Combatants for Peace and is FREE to attend. The event will be oversold, so please arrive early to claim your seat or make a donation when reserving. 7 Stages will also be hosting a Service Saturday event from 2-5, so come by anytime!

All unclaimed tickets will be released 15 minutes before showing. Late seating will only be allowed if seats remain available. We will accommodate as many as possible.

After the film, we will make space for conversation and can share a recorded conversation with members of Combatants for Peace and the filmmaker. The conversation can offer more insight into the work being done for this non-violent movement but we also understand sometimes we need to talk through difficult things with our community. We will offer space for both.

Second Annual Southern Fried Bake-Off

January 4, 2024 at 7 Stages – FREE EVENT!

Now in its second year, the Southern Fried Bake-Off is an exhilarating 24 hour play festival where participants write, rehearse, and perform brand new plays based on a Bake-Off theme and a list of “ingredients,” to be performed in front of a LIVE AUDIENCE!

Playwrights and Performers – To participate, submit your name for consideration by December 13. Playwrights and performers will be selected by random lottery and notified by December 16.

This event is being co-produced by Essential Theatre and 7 Stages.

Y’ALLMARK – An improvised homage to everyone’s favorite holiday romance channel.

Everyone’s favorite improvised parody of made-for-tv holiday movies is back for a full run at 7 Stages!

This year is our “original recipe” run which means the core cast of Topher Payne, Amber Nash, and Kevin Gillese will be in every show.

Every night we take audience suggestions and use them to weave together a holiday romance that is equal parts homage and satire.

Nice shows are fully PG.
Naughty shows are PG-13.

This powerful new work features full-throttle dance, intimate storytelling, intricate costuming, and exquisite queer partnering… all performed with Sean Dorsey Dance’s signature technical precision, guts and deep humanity.

This event features the Atlanta premiere of the work, followed by the lobby experience of two #TheLostArtOfDreaming activities: Postcards From The Future and The Futurist Pledge!

This festival will offer audiences in Atlanta, for the first time, an opportunity to engage in music, dance, theatrical performances, food, and Indigenous history, wisdom, and culture through storytelling, outreach, and engagement events. The goal is to provide Indigenous and Native American artists a platform to share their stories, art, and culture while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusivity to help people better understand how choices today can impact generations to come. 

PowWow at Little 5 Points Soccer Field – 9am to 5 pm – Complimentary event  with suggested $7 donation

The First Voices Festival includes a daytime festival and PowWow held in an outdoor space in Little Five Points and an evening of performances at 7 Stages. The daytime events include Native American flautists, dancers, drummers, vendors, dialogues, and demonstrations. Traditional elements of the PowWow will be led by an Emcee, Lead Man and Lead Woman, SouthSide Drum group, and includes traditional dances: Men’s Fancy, Women’s Fancy Shawl, Jingle Dress Dance, Tiny Tots and Intertribal Dances. The PowWow will be curated by Buffalo Yellowbird. Buffalo is a member of the Oglala Lakota Nation and he is a seasoned curator. For over five years, he has sponsored and organized PowWows in many locations such as Dickson, Tennessee; Athens, Alabama; and now Atlanta, Georgia.

Art of Activism Meal & Dialogue at The Wrecking Bar – 5 PM to 6:30 PM – Complimentary event!

This Art of Activism discussion is about the misinformation around Indigenous cultures in modern day society. 7 Stages Theatre has resided on the Mvskoke (Muscogee/Creek) land for over 40 years along with many businesses in our Little Five Points neighborhood, while communities across Atlanta have a responsibility to consider what reparations may look like for them. As we examine our role in the arts community, engage in vital conversations and connect across our differences, we strive to create a brave space for native voices, stories, and leadership. Join us for Art of Activism from 5-6:30PM after the First Voices Festival PowWow, with honored guest Muscogee/Creek elder and fine flute maker William Harjo and complimentary meals provided by Three Sisters Soulfood!

Evening Performances at 7 Stages – 7 PM to 9 PM – $10-$40

Following a full day of events, 7 Stages will host an evening of performances on its Mainstage featuring Shelley Morningsong (Northern Cheyenne and Scandinavian) and Fabian Fontenelle (Zuni/Omaha). Singer/songwriter and Native American flute player Shelley Morningsong is a seven-time Native American Music Awards winner, including 2019 “Artist of the Year.” She has recorded seven albums of her soulful contemporary compositions and has written theme songs for nonprofits One Nation Walking and Electro-Magnetic Health. Shelley teaches online and conducts workshops at festivals. Her latest project is the upcoming children’s book, “She Talks to the Animals”, based on a song by the same name from her award-winning album, “Love Medicine.” In performance, Shelley is joined by her husband, Fabian Fontenelle, an original member of the American Indian Dance Theatre.

Tips for a fun and safe festival visit:

• The PowWow is outdoors in a grassy field! Bring a chair, dress warmly, and wear comfortable shoes.
• Use our complimentary shuttle! While each location is within walking distance, the shuttle is a great way to get back and forth.
• Park in our paid lot behind 7 Stages, or further out on side streets for free. Better yet, take Marta! The closest train stop is Inman Park Marta station, a short walk to L5P.
• Masks and other personal protection equipment are highly recommended, especially indoors. If you are sick, stay home!
• Please DON’T BRING alcohol, drugs, weapons, etc to these family-friendly events.
• DO BRING your friends, family, an eagerness to learn, and some donation cash for all of the organizations making this possible!
