Service Saturday May 17, 2025 from 2-5 PM

7 Stages welcomes you to another Service Saturday with: pop-up art, health resources, a clothing drive, blood drive, complimentary food, and lots of books!  In addition to our banned book library, we will be offering FREE books–Charles Yu’s Interior Chinatown.

This year’s BIG READ selection has inspired a wide variety of artistic responses including original dance from Spelman Improv classes, visual art from Midtown High School classes, a children’s musical by Clark University students, poetry, song, film and more!  

Vital conversations on stereotype, representation and the roles we play in society have fueled us all season long, so come celebrate the culmination with an Open Mic for pop up artistic responses and readings of scenes from the text. SHOW UP to share your story, vision, and voice!

In addition to our banned-book library, we will be offering FREE copies of Charles Yu’s Interior Chinatown with opportunities to sign up for a creative response.

In honor of black history month, we celebrate Black-owned small businesses by inviting Youth Creates Alum Nandi Thompson to sell and promote her gourmet cookies as well as her mother’s health and wellness goods from Hope’s Awakening Brew. Also, look out for a stunning balloon installation created by Michelle Barnard’s Balloon Blossoms.

We have often collaborated with artists to make our Service Saturdays as entertaining as they are enlightening. These events are always complimentary, and we hope they will continue to provide valuable resources to people of Atlanta.

Thanks to the National Endowment For The Arts and Georgia Center For The Book, we are also kicking off our Big Read Artistic Responses to Deaf Republic by Ilya Kaminsky. Come celebrate by being in community with us in a fiercely weird way, grab a complimentary book and sign up to create your own artistic response!

Service Saturday – September 16, 2023 from 2 PM – 5 PM

Service Saturdays aim to help our community thrive by providing vital resources like food, clothing, books and personal protection equipment while bringing together local community-driven organizations under one roof. We partner with New Georgia Project and Life South Community Blood drive among a variety of other partners to offer health services, blood drives, voter registrations and more. Usually paired with our performance programs, artists find a welcoming platform to engage with our local community beyond the stage, oftentimes offering workshops, street performances and visual art. These events are always complimentary, and we hope they will continue to provide valuable resources to people of Atlanta.

September 16th is our next Service Saturday taking place during a performance residency with trailblazing transgender choreographer Sean Dorsey Dance from San Francisco. The Lost Art Of Dreaming invites us to reconnect with longing, embrace expansive imagination, connect with joy and pleasure, and propel ourselves toward loving Futures. Performances will be on our mainstage Friday the 15th at 8pm, Saturday the 16th at 8pm and Sunday the 17th at 4pm. The dancers will kick the day off by offering an all-levels, super friendly workshop from 1-2:30pm! The Youth Creates 2023 ensemble will also present mini-performances from their upcoming play The Glitter Effect, premiering July 28, 2023 at 7 Stages. Coming out to Service Saturday and the Youth Creates performances helps ensure the success of our youth programs, so drop by and see how you can get involved!

As we continue to examine our role, ask what is essential, and connect with the needs of our community, we offer our local community services including resources such as COVID-19 resources, health screenings, menstrual products, reproductive health care kits, food, complimentary books including a banned book library, a blood drive, free-trade coffee additional connections with organizations and artists to raise awareness and funds. Partners include the Atlanta Green Theatre Alliance, Planned Parenthood, Just A Touch Ministry & Outreach, LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, TAR Project,  Comrade Care among others.

Plus join, us for a solidarity event with the Defend the Forest movement – Weelaunee Art Action Gathering will host a variety show at 2:30 on the mainstage, art exhibition and auction in the lobby gallery and black box space.

In an effort to help our community thrive, 7 Stages regularly hosts Service Saturday events providing Food, PPE, clothing, and other resources.

At this event, LifeSouth Community Blood Centers provides the opportunity to donate blood (click here to reserve a time!), while Planned Parenthood and the New Georgia Project provide voting and reproductive resources, respectively.
