Desolate dystopia wreaks havoc on humanity as we fight for survival in a stale and depleted world. Survivors seek The Source, an arcane and mysterious key that may unlock their salvation. A Wanderer traverses the lands, transforming the terrain in their wake. Merciless and sardonic gods scorn and curse humanity. Will we endure, or will we perish?!

Join Youth Creates 2022 Ensemble for The Wanderer and The Source on stage and screen! July 29 at 8 pm ET and July 30 at 2 pm ET, see the culmination of our Youth Creates program’s efforts to create an original production from start to finish in less than one month!!! This program is available in person at 7 Stages and virtually online.

Patrons and staff are required to wear a mask at all times and food is no longer allowed inside the theatres.

About Youth Creates 2022

Youth Creates is 7 Stages’ training program providing experiential learning and performance opportunities for teenagers. Through playwriting, design, and performance, students collaborate to create an original production.

Summer 2020, the programs received a virtual Re-Boot. This summer we are dedicated to safe collaborations and looking forward to creating together again virtually across the seas, and in limited safe distances at the theatre!

We will collaborate with a local, national, and international ensemble to train in playwriting, poetry, devised film, dance, music composition, vocal technique and design, while ultimately creating ORIGINAL performances to be shared hybrid style!

WORKSHOPS LED BY LOCAL & INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS

The ensemble includes some of Atlanta’s finest professional artists, apprentices, and students. This year’s teaching artists include Theresa Davis, a world-renowned poet and author; Nicolette Emanuelle, a skilled aerialist, musician and movement performer; Dorothy Bell-Polk, our resident vocalist and a beloved Atlanta actress; Mama YeYe, our spiritual movement and African Dance guide; Destiny Renee, our Education Director, a film actress, producer and poet; as well as some of our international colleagues and apprentices.

It has been 20 wonderful, powerful years of teens creating art. Let’s keep it going with Youth Creates 2022!

During the summer of 2020, we received a virtual Re-Boot. Last summer, we experimented with a hybrid program, working virtually with our friends in Holland and in person with our Atlanta ensemble. This summer we continue to be dedicated to safe collaborations and looking forward to creating together again still in limited safe distances at the theatre! We will explore various techniques and skills, support your visions and ultimately celebrate by welcoming audiences in person AND online to our world premiere!

Instructors and students of Youth Creates engage in way more than theatre! Here, they collaborate to clean up in nature with partner organizations.
